ALL OUR DIFFERENCES MAKE US THE SAME

THERE
is a
world of difference
between
ONENESS and separation

Much is made of differences and distinctions.  They represent the capstone of our individuality, our crowning “achievement”, and the source of all conflict.  By emphasizing what makes us different, we often lose sight of what makes us the same.

Our senses are prone to categorize these distinctions into neat little boxes, be it by sight, sound, smell, etc., but this only draws our attention further away from the realization of our sameness.  These boxes then get stacked into “like” piles, representing family, neighborhood, community, city, state, and nation.  Add to those piles others which emphasize sex, race, religion, culture, politics, etc., and we have differences ad nauseum.

All of this represents a world of difference apart from our REALITY as ONE.  Focusing on our uniqueness blinds us to this realization.  Within a world of difference, distinctions only separate, and separation only breeds conflict.  That which is TRULY equal then degenerates into a perception of inequality.

Our salvation from this insanity rests in the realization that, with the condition of difference being the same for all, there are not many solutions, but only ONE.  That which appears to be separate and unequal belies the REALITY of our ONENESS and EQUALITY.

By identifying with each as one who “suffers from the same condition”, we will eventually come full-circle back to the realization that our uniqueness only represents a different shade of ONENESS.
